New National Curriculum 2014

From September 2014 all state schools in England are required to follow the new National Curriculum.

' Every state-funded school must offer a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and which:

  •  promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and
  •  prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.'    Department for Education 2014

At Shapla, teachers  have worked together to write a new curriculum framework for each class.

In English and Maths we teach the new objectives and Programmes of Study for each year group, and this has been planned across each year group.

We teach the International Primary Curriculum. we follow suggested unit planning from the IPC so that we cover learning objectives from the national curriculum, including subjects such as Science, History, Geography, Computing, Art and Music. Wherever possible we make links between English and Maths through the IPC. This helps children to learn in a real context.
